Ringgit at 4.37 against USD

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was lower in the early session today on weaker demand for the local note ahead of the release of Malaysia's third quarter gross domestic product data.

At 9.27am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3710/3810 against the US dollar from the 4.3600/3700 recorded yesterday.

A dealer said trading in the early session was clouded by cautious sentiment as traders awaited the release of the economic data.

Meanwhile, the local note also traded lower against other major currencies.

It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0790/0880 from 3.0726/0805 on Thursday and eased against the yen to 3.5612/5702 from 3.5456/5552.

It weakened against the British pound to 6.6500/6679 from 6.6207/6367 previously and declined against the euro to 4.7146/7267 from 4.6696/6820.--BERNAMA
