KUALA
LUMPUR: The ringgit was lower in the early session against the US
dollar today as the greenback strengthened against major currencies
following the terrorist attack in Paris.
At 9.10am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3900/4000 against the US dollar from 4.3700/3780 on Friday.
A dealer said the greenback also remained firm despite weak US retail
sales data released on last Friday, on expectations that the Federal
Reserve would raise interest rates next month.
The local note was traded lower against other major currencies.
It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0814/0905 from
3.0729/0792 on Friday and eased against the yen to 3.5810/5907 from
3.5581/5660.
It weakened against the British pound to 6.6785/6968 from 6.6507/6633
previously and declined against the euro to 4.7078/7203 from
4.6995/7090. -- Bernama
