Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

bursa malaysia stockKUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar today on weak buying interest, dealers said. At 9am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2770/2880 against the greenback from 4.2550/2650 on Friday. A dealer said the local note is still subdued due to the possibility of an interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve next month. The local unit was also lower against other major currencies. It eased against the Singapore dollar to 3.0226/0323 from 3.0177/0261 on Friday and depreciated against the yen to 3.4820/4924 from 3.4752/4842 previously.

Ringgit at 4.27, continues slide against USD

klci stocksKUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit failed to halt its continuing decline against the US dollar at opening today, dealers said. At 9.26 am, the local unit was quoted at 4.2760/2850 to the greenback from 4.2105/2155 yesterday. A dealer said sentiment remained unsteady, even for the greenback, which traded lower against the euro and the yen. "The dollar fell against both currencies following negative sentiment, although China embarked on much-anticipated policy easing steps," he added. The ringgit was lower against a basket of major currencies.

Ringgit opens higher at 4.20 against USD

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today, driven by buying interest, dealers said.

At 9am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2060/2140 against the greenback from 4.2420/2570 on Tuesday. The local unit was also mostly higher against other major currencies.
 
It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.9864/9944 from yesterday's 2.9979/9102 and strengthened against the yen to 3.4357/4425 from 3.4640/4774 previously. It fell against the British pound to 6.3418/3560 from 6.4156/4396 on Tuesday, but improved against the euro to 4.4790/4883 from 4.5211/5388 previously. -- BERNAMA

Ringgit opens broadly higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit rebounded to open higher against major currencies, including the US dollar, dealers said.

At 9.05 am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2850/2950 against the greenback from 4.3010/3050 on Monday. A dealer said news that Chinese Premier Li Keqiang would buy more Malaysian treasury bonds in a move to help stabilise the financial market perked the market.
 
The local note appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0227/0302 from yesterday's 3.0295/0345 and strengthened against the yen to 3.4874/4970 from 3.4931/4972 previously.
It rose against the British pound to 6.4798/4966 from 6.5190/5277 on Monday and improved against the euro to 4.5571/5695 from 4.5720/5766 previously. -- Bernama

Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher in early trade against the US dollar on renewed demand for the local currency.
At 9.19am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3700/3790 against the US dollar from 4.3810/3850 on Monday.

A dealer said the better demand for ringgit was in tandem with the improved performance on the equities market.
The local note was also traded higher against other major currencies.

It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0727/0801 from 3.0798/0841 on Monday and rose against the yen to 3.5442/5529 from 3.5682/5720.
It gained versus the British pound to 6.6385/6543 from 6.6600/6670 yesterday and advanced against the euro to 4.6619/6733 from 4.7039/7086 on Monday. -- Bernama

Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was lower in the early session against the US dollar today as the greenback strengthened against major currencies following the terrorist attack in Paris.

At 9.10am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3900/4000 against the US dollar from 4.3700/3780 on Friday.
 
A dealer said the greenback also remained firm despite weak US retail sales data released on last Friday, on expectations that the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates next month.

The local note was traded lower against other major currencies.
It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0814/0905 from 3.0729/0792 on Friday and eased against the yen to 3.5810/5907 from 3.5581/5660.

It weakened against the British pound to 6.6785/6968 from 6.6507/6633 previously and declined against the euro to 4.7078/7203 from 4.6995/7090. -- Bernama

Ringgit at 4.37 against USD

rinngitKUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was lower in the early session today on weaker demand for the local note ahead of the release of Malaysia's third quarter gross domestic product data.

At 9.27am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3710/3810 against the US dollar from the 4.3600/3700 recorded yesterday.

A dealer said trading in the early session was clouded by cautious sentiment as traders awaited the release of the economic data.
Meanwhile, the local note also traded lower against other major currencies.

It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0790/0880 from 3.0726/0805 on Thursday and eased against the yen to 3.5612/5702 from 3.5456/5552.
It weakened against the British pound to 6.6500/6679 from 6.6207/6367 previously and declined against the euro to 4.7146/7267 from 4.6696/6820.--BERNAMA

Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was higher in the early session today on better demand for the local note as the greenback took a pause from its rally.

At 9.16am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3520/3590 against the US dollar from the 4.3600/3670 it recorded yesterday.
The US dollar retreated from a seven-month high against a basket of six major currencies.

Meanwhile, the ringgit traded lower against other major currencies.
It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0732/0790 from 3.0680/0734 and eased against the yen to 3.5431/5597 from 3.5407/5467.
It weakened against the British pound to 6.6307/6440 from 6.6054/6173 and declined against the euro to 4.6893/6986 from 4.6822/6902. -- Bernama

Malaysia: Shares end higher

Malaysian shares closed higher on Tuesday, with the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gaining 13.49 points to 1,677.56.

Some 2.8 billion lots, valued at RM2.3 billion, were traded. Gainers outnumbered losers 521 to 357.
